Crunchy Almond "Proats" Recipe

With this 23 degree weather here in Northern NJ, I felt the intense need to post a recipe that will warm your soul and keep you satisfied through the day.

Now I'm sure you're asking yourself, "What the heck are proats?!

"Proats" is a combination of the words, protein and oatmeal, just meaning that this oatmeal has added protein to make it a really satisfying and healthy meal!


1/3 cup gluten free quick oats

2 egg whites (or 1/4 cup liquid egg whites)

10 oz water


Ground Ginger

7 drops Stevia (or monk fruit)

1/4 cup Granola

1 Tbsp Almond butter

1 square 100% cacao dark chocolate


Bring 10 oz of water to a boil

Add 1/3 cup oats, cinnamon, ginger and stevia (or Monk Fruit)

Whisk the ingredients and reduce heat to a simmer

Allow oats to absorb water, whisking every minute or so (for about 5 minutes)

Add and whisk in egg whites until blended with oats

Allow to sit for 2 minutes then whisk for 20 seconds

Turn burner off and allow oats to rest for 5 minutes

Pour oats into a bowl and place cacao square in center of mixture

Drizzle the almond butter on top

Scatter granola anyway you like
